Spring Fishing on Gun Lake
Get your fishing license ready and cast your line in Michigan’s pristine waterways. Trout season begins on the last Saturday of April. If you’re searching for a more serene experience, check out Gun Lake. As southwest Michigan’s largest all-sport lake you’ll be able to access a wide range of fishing spots, the pier, offshore or a remote spot out on the lake. You’ll find a boat launch on the channel, and you can catch: Catfish, Crappies, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Sunfish, Northern Pike, Walleye, and Yellow Perch.

Yankee Springs State Recreation Area

Set in on Gun Lake waterfront, our polished resort is only a short drive from the Yankee Springs State Recreation Area. To access the park, you’ll need a Michigan’s Recreation Passport. Yankee Spring’s unique beauty and landscape allow for many forms of recreation, such as camping, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, cross-country skiing, and much more. You can fish from one of the two piers, one on Gun Lake and another on Deep Lake. If spring hasn’t fully bloomed, you can still enjoy cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, or snowshoeing. Altogether, there are nine lakes within the park boundaries which allow for excellent fishing opportunities, as well as horseback riding opportunities.
