There’s nothing quite like booking a lakefront suite or a cottage nestled in the woods in Michigan during the winter months. Take a break from the city’s hustle and bustle by basking in the serene snowy landscape at Bay Pointe. There’s no shortage of winter activities in Michigan—snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice skating, and so much more! After a long day immersed in our winter wonderland, retire to your Gun Lake cottage and warm-up with these five fantastic seasonal cocktails.
1. Hot Buttered Rum
Utilize the kitchenette in your lakefront cottage in Michigan and whip together a delicious hot buttered rum. Plop some butter, brown sugar, spices, rum, and hot water into one of our mugs. Mix your concoction thoroughly and enjoy with a good book or movie.
2. Hot Toddy
There’s nothing quite like a Hot Toddy to warm your snow-chilled bones. Make a cup of tea with your complimentary Keurig or coffee pot, pour a shot or two of your favorite whiskey or bourbon, drizzle with honey, and garnish with a cinnamon stick or an orange. Include a spritz of lemon for a refreshing citrus kick.
3. Original Irish Coffee
We can’t assemble a winter cocktail list for your Michigan vacation without including the original Irish Coffee recipe. Fill your mug about ¾ -full with a steaming cup of joe, stir in brown sugar until dissolved, and mix in your favorite Irish whiskey. Top off your concoction with heavy whipping cream, and enjoy!
4. Spiked Hot Chocolate
One of the best things about sipping on a delicious hot chocolate at our resort in Michigan is that you can spike it with pretty much anything. Bailey’s Irish Cream, Kahlua, whiskey, spiced rum, vanilla vodka (yum!), or even red wine—all of it tastes great in a steaming mug of hot chocolate. Bolster your hot cocoa game with a splash of whatever booze you’ve brought along, and top with whipped cream or marshmallows.
5. Whiskey Sour
Nothing will warm you up quite like a refreshing whiskey cocktail. A Midwestern classic, the best Whiskey Sour requires little effort. Mix (or shake) some bourbon whiskey, fresh lemon juice, and maple syrup together with ice. Serve chilled with an orange slice or a sweet maraschino cherry.
