There’s something about taking in breathtaking sights while snowflakes fall that makes you feel like you’re in a real-life snow globe. Experience this for yourself by planning a winter getaway to Bay Pointe. Found on the shores of Gun Lake, our four-season resort is the perfect home base for your snowy escape. The Best Skiing Trails in Southwest Michigan

Cross-country skiing is an activity that all can enjoy, even if you’re new to this sport. This excursion is a fantastic way to explore the picturesque landscape near our resort while getting a bit of a workout in.

If you need work done on your skis, head to The Ski Shop at Milham Park in Kalamazoo. They have all your needs covered with services including fitting, waxing, and mounting. Once everything is in working order, set off exploring trails throughout the region.

Yankee Springs Recreation Area

A short distance from our Gun Lake rentals is Yankee Springs Recreation Area, which is filled with trails that attract skiers of all levels. The Yankee Springs-Chief Noonday Trail is a four-mile option that goes along the McDonald Lake Overlook. For a shorter option, ski along the mile-long Yankee Springs-Sassafras Nature Trail.

Grand Rapids Area

Just north are Grand Rapids and the town of Wyoming, home to several parks and ski trails. Palmer Park, which is also the location of Kaufman Golf Course, has three groomed loops about two miles each. Another option is Provin Trails in Grand Rapids, but remember that these trails are not groomed.

Kalamazoo

The Kalamazoo Nordic Skiers help maintain the cross-country trails inside Milham Park Golf Course. Check out their trail conditions report for up-to-date conditions.
